Frequently Asked Questions

• How long will it take to receive my Traditional or Craftsman piece?

Typically, Traditional and Craftsman pieces are delivered in 2-4 weeks.

 

• How long will it take to receive my Legacy piece?

Because of the nature of the bespoke process, the delivery time of your Legacy piece can vary depending upon the complexity and chosen materials. After you approve the final test kit, you can expect delivery in 4-6 weeks.

 

• What is included in my Legacy test kit?

In your test kit, you will receive a rough draft of your piece (usually made of heavyweight paper or lower quality leather), leather samples, thread, and dye color samples (if requesting a customized color/effect), laser engraved samples (if engraving is desired), and a checklist with additional notes section for you to request changes.

 

• How much does a Legacy or bespoke piece cost?

For a bespoke piece - regardless of what it is - the price starts at $100. For the Legacy option, the price starts at $500. You would choose your item, then choose Legacy from the drop down menu, and checkout like normal. When you approve the final test kit, you will receive the final invoice. Once the final payment is received, your item will be crafted.

 

• Do you supply ready-to-purchase items?

No, all pieces are crafted as ordered. However, custom-designed, client-branded pieces are currently available from the retail store, James Dell. For availability, options, and other inquiries, contact the James Dell store at:

• How do I care for my piece?

Your piece is lightly conditioned with natural waxes, but may need additional care every few months. Begin by gently wiping dirt from the surface using a soft cloth or horsehair brush. Use a quality leather conditioner such as Saphir Renovateur and massage into the leather, allow to dry, then buff with a clean cloth or horsehair brush. Depending upon the type of leather, you may need a conditioner specific to that material. Your item will likely have scratches and markings from regular use, but if scratches result in severe discoloration, you may need to apply a color-matched cream polish, allow to dry, then buff with a clean cloth or horsehair brush; or use the Contact Us page to ask about re-crafting.

 

• How do I get my item repaired?

Use the Contact Us page to inquire about repairs.

 

• Do you offer a warranty?

Traditional pieces come with an 6-month non-transferable warranty. Craftsman pieces come with a 3-year transferable warranty that covers basic wear. Legacy items are meant to be heirloom pieces and are protected by a transferable lifetime warranty that covers basic wear. Legacy pieces can be repaired for an additional charge depending upon the extent of the damage.

 

• What is your refund policy?

Because every piece is made to order and customized to each client’s preferences, all sales are final.

 

• Do you offer discounts, sales, or other promotions?

Due to the amount of time, effort, and customization - as well as the incredibly high quality leathers and hardware - neither discounts, sales, nor promotions are offered. However, Afterpay is available for all purchases.
